It’s that lovely time of year again, time for San Diego Comic Con! Unfortunately not all of us are, for various reasons, able to to attend the Promised Land. Just because you are not at SDCC, doesn’t mean you can’t still have some geektastic fun this weekend. So, what’s a geek to do? Click below for some fun suggestions.

Friday July 25th- The X-travaganza! All X-Men Burlesque (8pm, doors at 7pm)

Nearly Naked Nerds and Lefty Lucy welcome Nerdcore Rapper Adam WarRock as he joins forces with some of New York’s favorite neo-burlesque stars at Webster Hall to celebrate all things X-Men, from comics and cartoons, to the movies and video games, ONLY in the X-TRAVAGANZA! Which definitely means an interesting night is ahead of you. Head down to the Studio at Webster Hall (125 East 11th St, NYC) ****Please note: You MUST be 19+ years old to attend, i.d.s will be checked****

 

Friday, July 25th- New York City Meet Up Star Wars Monthly Meet Up (7pm)

Head down to Cafe R (116 West 32nd St.,) to chit chat all things Star Wars.

 

Saturday July 26th- Not at Comic Con Party. (All Day)

Midtown Comics is hosting a Not A Comic Con Party at their Downtown location (64 Fulton Street, NYC) for those of us trapped on the East Coast. Go hang out for awesome discounts, signings and the chances to win awesome prizes. Anyone who arrives in costume or comic book apparel before 1pm will receive a raffle ticket for some fun giveaways! Winners will be announced in-store at 1pm.

 

Sunday July 27th-  STAR TREK SUNDAYS Subterfuge and Spies! (12pm-7pm)

Spend your afternoon at Videology (308 Bedford Ave, Williamsburg) Trekking. Every Sunday they are screening your favorite episodes of TNG, TOS, DS9 (and more) while serving up themed drinks like Surian Brandy, Romulan Ale, and some Earl Grey Tea, Hot. Is there any better way for a Trekkie to spend a Sunday?

Sunday July 27th- Nerd Cabaret, Harry Potter! (7pm)

As if you needed another reason to head down to The Way Station (683 Washington Ave, Prospect Heights, Bklyn), the Doctor Who themed bar with Whovian themed drinks an TARDIS bathroom, yup you read that correctly. This Sunday, Ashley Boehm is joined by Joy M Seldin, Kofi Mills, Elizabeth Carbonell, and Lena Gabrielle, featuring Benjamin Steinhardt on piano, to celebrate Harry Potter’s upcoming birthday (July 31st), by “singing about the intricacies of the wizarding world, the differences between the books and the movies, and how it all could have been about Neville Longbottom.

 

 All Day Every Day

Can’t be there with your favorite Avengers? Why not go for the next best thing to surround yourself in there world. Head on over to the Discovery Times Square Marvel’s Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. Exhibit. Conceived in conjunction with NASA, Discovery Times Square and Victory Hill Exhibitions, the interactive exhibit takes you deep into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the science behind all your favorite characters. There are tons of props, costumes and interactive tomfoolery to keep you in you geeky happy place. Admission $27.00 admission price (or $19.50, if you’re a child age 3-11).

 

In/near Philly? Well, you’re in luck! From the 24th (Thursday) through the 27th (Sunday) Marvel Universe LIVE! is performing at the Wells Fargo Center in Philly. Check here for tickets, dates and times.

 

Not in NYC or Philly?

That’s ok, check out the local geekery in your area, There are a bunch of comic book shops who are holding events around the country, also don’t forget we are in the mist of Barnes & Nobles Get Pop Cultured (July 18th- August 10th).  There is also, of course Nerd HQ!

Since it’s inception, Nerd HQ has been kind enough to stream their panels live!!! This is PERFECT for those of us stuck at work/home. As soon as they post the link to them we will happily share them with you.
