Actor Michael Pitt, Boardwalk Empire‘s Jimmy Darmondy and big time creepo Mason Verger on NBC’s Hannibal, will not return for season three of the hit series. What will this mean for the future?

TVline.com reports that Joe Anderson (The River, The Grey, Across the Universe) will be stepping into the shoes of the scarred psychopath for season three. For such a big role in the Hannibal universe, it is rather shocking that Pitt decided to leave.

Okay, Fannibals, what do you think? I’m immensely curious.

Hannibal stars Mads Mikkelson, Hugh Dancy, Lawrence Fishburne and Gillian Anderson. It is currently filming season three and will return in 2015.
