You may be wondering, as was I, just what happened to The Lone Gunmen. If you read the Season 10 comics published by IDW and written by Joe Harris, you would know (SPOILER) that their deaths were faked by the FBI. The Gunmen, played by Tom Braidwood, Dean Haglund, and Bruce Harwood, have been confirmed for to appear in the six-episode event alongside other alumni such as Mitch Pileggi and William B. Davis.

Haglund, who played and will play Langly, announced it on twitter just the other day,

I don’t know about you, but I can not wait to see just what salacious wink-nudge come-on Frohike lobs at Scully this time around.

Along with these alumns, we also have some newbies joining the cast, played by ones we already adore. Robbie Amell will join the merry band of agents as Agent Miller and Lauren Ambrose will play Agent Einstein. Before you say it, FOX is not pulling a Doggett & Reyes. These characters have a one episode arc.

Also joining Amell and Ambrose is superfan Kumail Nanjiani.This guy … this guy. Geeks, it is rare for someone who is pegged as a ‘superfan’ and ‘expert’ on a TV show to be given the amazing dream-come-true opportunity to be in an episode. Nanjiani has the added bonus of already being a TV star (Silicone Valley), but the guy is a podcaster like us and has been cast on the show he podcasts about. What?! The world is a magical geeky place.
