One of my favorite books to read this year had been Thor by Jason Aaron and Russell Dauterman. Making Thor a woman was not the only reason enjoyed this book, although that was a big plus. Aaron’s writing is singular and wonderful, making you ache for the next issue like it’s Christmas. I will admit, when we ultimately found out who Thor was, I was a bit let down, but I will continue to read and enjoy most anything Aaron chooses to do. It is a big bonus that Dauterman is on board for this next venture in Marvel comics.
Along with Doctor Strange and Star Wars, Aaron and Dauterman will now jump into The Might Thor with Jane Foster as our Thor. So, my panic attack with Thor was 616-ed was unwarranted, apparently. I know, I know, everyone told me, but come on. When you find a book you love, you never want it to end.
With the success of Star Wars #1 selling over 1,000,000 copies, it is completely understandable why Marvel would easily hand over the reigns to another book that sold fantastically when it was merely 6 issues. I, for one, can’t wait to pick up issue #1 of The Mighty Thor. Stay tuned for release details as we get them.
