When Phryne Fisher meets Cersei Lannister – Essie Davis to join GoT

When Phryne Fisher meets Cersei Lannister – Essie Davis to join GoT

Last year about this time I fell in love with a little show from Australia called Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries. It is a slightly campy, very simple 1920’s murder mystery series with a woman at the helm and I absolutely adore it. Essie Davis stars as Phryne Fisher, our female flapper Sherlock Holmes. Apparently, according to Vanity Fair, Davis is going to be playing a female actress in a traveling theatre company who personifies Cersei Lannister. The exact casting call for the role they are calling “Leading Actress” was,

in her early 40s, she’s an elegant actress with a traveling theatre company. Fun, charismatic, rum-drinking actress in the troupe.

She fits that bill for sure.

‘Outlander’ actor and director to join ‘Underworld: Next Generation’

‘Outlander’ actor and director to join ‘Underworld: Next Generation’

Tobias Menzies is popularly known amongst the Outlander fans as loving husband Frank Randall and a complete-180-evil-villain Black Jack Randall. Menzies’s portrayal of both characters has been stunning to say the least. A performance that, while just as wonderful, would have lacked an intimacy and emotion that director Anna Foerster brought to the table. The Outlander season one finale which was directed by Foerster (as well as several of the fan-favorite episodes such as ‘The Wedding’) saw Menzies villainous Black Jack sexually assault the show’s hero. Tough stuff to act and direct.

Another X-Files Alumn (or should we say Alumns) Join Season 10

Another X-Files Alumn (or should we say Alumns) Join Season 10

You may be wondering, as was I, just what happened to The Lone Gunmen. If you read the Season 10 comics published by IDW and written by Joe Harris, you would know (SPOILER) that their deaths were faked by the FBI. The Gunmen, played by Tom Braidwood, Dean Haglund, and Bruce Harwood, have been confirmed for to appear in the six-episode event alongside other alumni such as Mitch Pileggi and William B. Davis.

Morena Baccarin Cast in Deadpool.

Morena Baccarin Cast in Deadpool.

That’s right folks everyone’s fave Companion, and current Gotham-ite, Morena Baccarin has been cast as love interest in to Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool.

The role was being called “Lindsay” for casting purposes, but it’s safe to say that’s probably just an alias, is described as

“Smart, tough, beautiful but a little bit broken. Nothing has ever been easy for her and she’s developed a thick skin and cynical outlook. But she’s not a victim—she may not have a great life but she’s holding it together and does what she needs to get by. She’s got a great sense of humor but it leans heavily towards irony and sarcasm.”

So the question really becomes, who is Lindsay? Some wonder if she will be Shiklah, Queen of The Undead, who recently married our Darling Deadpool. However, as this is most likely an origins tale, Lindsay is more likely a cover for Vanessa Carlyle, who is known as Copycat in the comics. Copycat was a blue skinned shape-shifting mutant, who was working as a prostitute when she met Wade Wilson. It wouldn’t be the first time FOX gave us a blue skinned shape-shifting mutant, or even Morena as a um…companion. Go with what you know FOX.

Of course, “Lindsay” could be someone entirely different. She could be just a regular human, we’ll just have to wait and see.
